21 March is World Poetry Day, in which UNESCO (which has a wonderful motto of building peace in the minds of men and women) “recognizes the unique ability of poetry to capture the creative spirit of the human mind.”
Here is my humble contribution to the volume of poetry in the world – may it keep growing strong!
We poets stand
On the edge of
Reason, inviting you to read the
Lines borne of our souls, scrawled
Down on the
Pages of our lives.
Our voices breathe our pleasure and pain into the
Ether,
To be interpreted by individual
Readers in their own way (for everyone brings an element of themselves to public writing).
You are invited to garner from our words what speaks to you:
Do you take up the call of the poet within all of us?
Are you prepared to respond to the muse within your heart, to let
Your spirit breathe in the art that is poetry?
