Mindful Musings

White Privilege

What does White Privilege give me, apart from
access to an excellent education and quality health care?

What does White Privilege give me, apart from
a sense of worth and a place in the world?

What does White Privilege give me, apart from
freedom and security?

White Privilege gives me
time to grieve when a loved one dies,
time to mourn for the loss I feel,
time to process the change such a loss inevitably brings.

White Privilege gives me
a background of love and security that I can harness,
a background of expectation of success that I can draw on,
a background of support networks that I can access without fear.

I know these things are not available to everyone.

I am grateful for what I have.
