A gift from a student who was
The mental health supports
swung into action
to try to understand
her suicidal intentions,
alleviate the chances of tragedy.
At year's end,
among the sweetmeats and cards,
a gift that I first mistook for chocolates:
three luxury soaps in a box saying
that she appreciates,
and her parents appreciate,
my efforts with her throughout the year.
Gifts like this are the
of dealing with the
of government teaching.
Note: I am not like the people in movies - and probably real life - who turn their noses up at being given soaps and socks, thinking this is some kind of lesser present from unimaginative gifters. Two items that I use everyday, they are always welcome in my house!
